A delicious & moist way to use your favorite variety of apples.
2 cups flour | 1 1/4 cups butter or margerine, melted |
2 cups quick oatmeal | 1 - 12 oz. jar caramel ice cream topping |
1 1/4 cups brown sugar | 2cups coarsely choppedbaking apples |
1 tsp. baking soda | 3/4 cup chopped walnuts |
In large mixing bowl combine flour, oatmeal, brown sugar and baking soda. Mix well. Add the butter and mix, blending. Press 2/3 of this in a buttered 13 x 9 pan. Bake in a preheated 350F. oven for 8 - 10 minutes or light golden brown. Set aside. Add nuts to remaining crumb mixture. Heat caramel sauce in microwave for 1 minutes or more until it pours easily. Be careful, jar will be hot ! Spread apples on baked crust. Pour caramel sauce evenly over apples and sprinkle remaining crumbs on top. Bake for 20 - 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cut into bars when cool. This is great served as a dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
