CRANBERRY MARBLED BROWNIES

A great treat for the office, holidays or anytime.


Bottom Layer
1 cup butter or margarine    1/4 cup Amaretto
1 1/2 cups sugar 1 3/4 cups flour
4 eggs 1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla 1 cup sliced almonds, toasted

Top Layer
1/2 bottom mixture
3 oz. semi-sweet chocolate, melted
1 tsp. almond extract

Middle Layer
2 - 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened 1/2 cup whole cranberry sauce
1/2 cup sugar 2 Tbs. cornstarch
2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla

Topping
1/2 cup Mini-chocolate chips
1/3 cup sliced almonds
3 Tbs. sugar

Preheat oven to 350F. grease and flour 13” x 9” pan. Set aside.

Bottom Layer:
Cream together in large bowl butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time. Add vanilla and Amaretto; blend. Add flour and salt. Remove half the mixture to another bowl. To the first mixture, add almonds. Spread into the bottom of pan; set aside.

Top Layer:

To remaining batter add melted chocolate and almond extract. Mix and set aside.

Middle Layer:
In food processor or another bowl, place cream cheese and sugar. Blend and add remaining ingredients. Pour over bottom layer; place in the freezer to firm up middle layer. When slightly firm, place blobs of chocolate mixture over the cream cheese mixture. Marble top two layers with back of a spoon or knife.

Topping:
Combine and sprinkle on top. Bake for 25-35 minutes or until test is clean. Cool on rack.
