Maji Fruit Bread

If you do not care for fruit cake, you must make this!These are a great hostess gift. A lot of ingredients, loads of flavor!


1 cup butter (2 sticks) 1/2 tsp. allspice
1 cup brown sugar 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup honey 3/4 lb. dried apricots, coarsely chopped
5 lg. eggs 1/2 lb. golden raisins
1/2 cup apricot nectar (juice)       3/4 lb. pitted dates, chopped
1/4 cup half & half 1 lb. coarsely chopped pecans
2 cups flour 1/4 cup Brandy
1 tsp. baking powder 1/4 cup Grand Marnier liqueur
1 1/4 tsp. grd. cinnamon

In mixing bowl cream butter and sugar. Add honey and eggs one at a time. Add apricot nectar and half and half. Mix well. Combine and add dry ingredients. Fold in fruits and nuts. Divide between 6, 5”x 3”x 2” mini-bread pans that have been greased and floured. Bake at 300F for 1 hr. to 1 hr. and 15 minutes or until tester comes out clean. Combine both liqueurs and brush on breads. Cool. Wrap in plastic wrap and foil. Seal in a freezer plastic bag and freeze. These make a great little gift or grab one to serve as dessert.
