A rich and flavorful, light sweet yeast dough for cinnamon buns, stollen or your favorite coffee cake. You must give this a try!!
2 pkg. dry yeast | 4-5 cup flour |
1 cup warm milk, (105F. - 115F.) | 1/2 cup sugar |
1/4 tsp. sugar | 2 Tbs. Jello-Flan (dry custard mix)* (in the jello section of your super market.) |
3 eggs, beaten | 1/2 cup butter, soft |
1 tsp. vanilla |
Combine yeast, milk and 1/4 tsp. sugar. Stir to mix. Set aside for 5 minutes. Whip together eggs and vanilla. Place 2 cups flour in bowl with sugar and *custard powder. Mix to blend dry ingredients. Add yeast and egg mixtures. Mix well. Add softened butter in eight pieces. Add remaining flour to make a firm but slightly sticky dough. Grease a larger bowl, add dough. grease surface of dough. Cover and chill 4 hours or overnight. Shape into desired shape. Bake in a preheated 350F. oven for 25-40 minutes, depending on shape. This makes two stollens or loaves of cinnamon bread. Excellent!!
