These go together quickly. They have a light, crisp batter and fry quickly. Top burgers with these, super!!
2 lg. sweet onions | 1 egg, beaten |
2/3 cup milk | 2 tsp. seasoned salt |
1-1 1/2 cups flour | cooking oil |
Slice onions thinly. Place in a flat container and add milk. Let them stand in milk, tossing occasionally, for 30 minutes. Lift them out to drain in a colander. Save milk. In another bowl, combine flour and seasoned salt. Mix to blend. Add to milk, about 4-5 Tbs. flour mixture and egg; whisk smooth.This makes a very light batter to hold the flour. Pat rings dry with toweling. Heat 2 oil in fry pan or deep-fryer to 375F. Dip a small handful of onion rings into the egg mixture and then into the flour. Drop into hot oil and fry until golden. Drain on toweling. Keep warm in a 300F. oven.
